Company holiday party season is here! If your company is hosting one, it’s a good idea to go. Company parties can be a blend of work and social. Throw some alcohol into the mix, and it can sometimes be hard to figure out exactly what kind of behavior is appropriate. We’ve got some tips:

1. Talk To Everyone

Holiday parties are a great opportunity to get to know the people in your company that you don’t normally interact with. Make a point of spending most of your time socializing with people outside of your department. An easy way to do this? Hang out where the food is. You never get hungry, and everyone comes to you!

2. Talk About Something Other Than Work

Deadlines are important – but a party is not the place to talk about them. It can be tempting to talk about work when surrounded by the people you work with. Resist the urge.

3. Be Inclusive

There are probably many winter holidays being celebrated by your co-workers. If they’re celebrating a winter holiday at all!

4. Don’t Drink Too Much

Know your limits, and stick to them. Don’t let yourself become a cautionary tale. We already have enough of them. But feel free to share more in the comments!
